Our Flight to Tokyo

After being on a plane for about 20 hours we have finally arrived in Hong Kong. The flights were very nice and on time. First Class has it's advantages and I'm not sure how easily I will be able to transition back to peasant life.

We got a menu once we sat down for our flight to Tokyo.

For starters we had Smoked Salmon and some goat cheese with wine.

For Dinner I went with the Beef and William went with the Salmon.

Unfortunately I didnt take pics of the seats, but there was so much space that I didnt feel like I was buckled in correctly. The chairs fully reclined and we had a pretty good choice of movies. I watched Juno and No Country for Old Men. Here are my quick reviews:

  • Juno - very good, not enough Michael Cera.
  • No Country For Old Men - I dont get it. It seemed to go on forever then ended suddenly. Plus I was almost all the way through the movie before I realized it was set in 1980. I guess that explains the bad clothes.
William slept the whole time while I took some occasional naps. For breakfast they served an omelette with sausage that looked like turds. The watermelon in the fruit dish tasted like they sprayed it with artificial watermelon flavor. It tasted like a jolly rancher. The cinnamon bun however was quite good.

There were also a few snacks in between meals which I didn't wake William for. Overall, for a 13 hour flight it wasn't too bad.

Overall, the airplane food was pretty good. I was quite surprised that the salmon tasted as good as it did and was not overcooked. If they put a Starbucks in first class I don't think I could fly coach again.

I am jealous of your movie selection. Crappy movies that I've watched on airplanes include Mr. Deeds, Talladega Nights, and The Break-Up. But you guys got Academy Award winners! And I'm surprised you didn't like No Country, I thought it kicked ass.
