Our Flight to Tokyo

After being on a plane for about 20 hours we have finally arrived in Hong Kong. The flights were very nice and on time. First Class has it's advantages and I'm not sure how easily I will be able to transition back to peasant life.

We got a menu once we sat down for our flight to Tokyo.




For starters we had Smoked Salmon and some goat cheese with wine.

For Dinner I went with the Beef and William went with the Salmon.

Unfortunately I didnt take pics of the seats, but there was so much space that I didnt feel like I was buckled in correctly. The chairs fully reclined and we had a pretty good choice of movies. I watched Juno and No Country for Old Men. Here are my quick reviews:

• Juno - very good, not enough Michael Cera.

• No Country For Old Men - I dont get it. It seemed to go on forever then ended suddenly. Plus I was almost all the way through the movie before I realized it was set in 1980. I guess that explains the bad clothes.

William slept the whole time while I took some occasional naps. For breakfast they served an omelette with sausage that looked like turds. The watermelon in the fruit dish tasted like they sprayed it with artificial watermelon flavor. It tasted like a jolly rancher. The cinnamon bun however was quite good.

There were also a few snacks in between meals which I didn't wake William for. Overall, for a 13 hour flight it wasn't too bad.

Tokyo to Hong Kong - We are now in the future

After 13 hours I cant imagine getting on another plane but I'm trying to convince myself that 5 hours would be a walk in the park after the flight we just came off of.

The airport looks like every airport except for two things. First, the girls working at the airport all wear these red jackets and hats and walk in a straight line when going places. The looked like a brownie troop. Second, there wasn't a Starbucks which was upsetting to William. I could have gone for a coffee too.

As for the flight, I slept most of this flight as did William, who seemed to sleep at least 13 of the 20 hours it took to get here. This flight seemed to go pretty quick without much to note.

We did get a meal which was chicken with a rectangle of potatoes. Not sure where they get rectangle potatoes but it was pretty good.

One other note on the flight. The girl sitting across from us had these boots that looked like ice skates.

Hard to see but the heel was narrow like an ice skate. I realize it was a little creepy of me to snap this pic but I figured the ladies of SEO would appreciate it.

We arrived in Hong Kong at around 11 pm Monday night (11 am Monday US Time) So we are now in the future. So far the future isn't what I expected. I really cant tell you much since any false move could disrupt the natural order of life.

We made it off the plane and picked up our bags without a hitch. William did get yelled at for wearing his hat in the airport. Not sure why. In addition there was a Starbucks just as we got off the plane so it was a happy ending for William. (not that happy ending)

As Ray stated we are done with leg one of our trip and are waiting in Detroit. I do want to put your mind at ease though and let you know there is a Starbucks here in our terminal, so all is well.

And although Ray doesn't count it as a visit, if it weren't for being in the airport of most cities I would not have seen a lot of the US. So I encourage you to vote for airport visits to count toward city visits.

We're off

Leg one of the Hong Kong trip has kicked off without a hitch. William and I are sitting in the Detroit airport waiting for flight number two to Tokyo.

This is my first time in Detroit but I cannot count it since I am not leaving the airport. William on the other hand allows himself to say he has been in a city if he lands in that airport. According to my own personal rules, I can only say I have been in the Detroit Airport.

Am I right or wrong?

The terminal we are sitting in has a monorail just like the ones they have in Shelbyville, Ogdonville and North Haverbrook.

2 hours till leg two of the trip, which consists of a 13 hour flight to Tokyo. For now I will be sitting here with my eyes peeled for celebrities and weird occurrences.
